Domain 3: Instruction

The domain of Instruction is where some believe the magic of the classroom happens.  It is really only where the magic begins.

The artifacts that are poseted here include two papers, and the picture to the right.  They help to illustrate all of the

As a teacher, it is always exciting when a student goes above and beyond what the assignment calls for.  The student example is from a stduent that did just that.  The assignment was to write their own plot against Julius Caesar, to go along with the play.  There was no reason for this student to attempt to write it in iambic pentamiter, but they did anyways.  This example was one way that I attempted to assess the learning and understanding of the play, and also a way to practice citations when writing.  The example shows how well the student understood the directions as well as the instruction that was done in regards to

the play.  I also believe that because of the extra effort, it shows how well the student engaged with the material and the learning that was occuring.  It is obvious that they were enjoying themselves, and challenging themselves to achieve, with at least this particular activity.   The picture gallery (left), also shows a student that was actively engaged in work outside of class.  This was a poster that they created to illustrate their learning from a personal reading choice, as part of an assignment they were asked to do every quarter.

A teacher needs to communicate, and there are so many ways to do that.  From directions to informing students of changes and more, teachers must communicate.  The picture shows one small example of communicating with students, and the discussion questions show the same.  In order for the discussion questions to work, there needs to be a clear communication of purpose and practice.  In order to discuss students will also need to have read and understood.  This makes the discussion another way in which I can assess stduent progress and learning.
